More Patients, More Responsibility: How the NP Role Has Changed in the Last Decade, with Gabe Westheimer
When Gabe Westheimer first began as an emergency Nurse Practitioner 10 years ago, his role was quite a bit different. Back then one or two NPs plus a physician would take care of about 18 beds. Now, he's looking after double or triple the number of patients, plus managing patients in the waiting room.
It's a different world now in emergency medicine, but what can we as NPs and PAs do about it? And how can we avoid burnout from this situation?
